  MEASURING BELT TENSION

It is essential to give the belt the right tension. If it is too slack or too tight the drive may operate incorrectly, possibly leading to early destruction of the belt.
Hutchinson recommends the vibrating cord method, which is very accurate and makes use of an electronic tensiometer.

Whichever method is used, the belt must always be worn in (for approx. 10 minutes on load) and its tension readjusted to the specified value if necessary.
